Jókai nostalgia boat

The Jókai was the fifth steamboat built in Budapest (Óbuda) and made its first test run on the lake on 2 July 1913. During World War II, on 26 March 1945, it was blown up by retreating German troops in the port of Balatonfüred. It was bought by Vanyolai Shipping Ltd., refurbished in 1998-99, sailed to the Danube, but only arrived at Lake Balaton in 2002, transported by road due to the water level at the time. The renovation was carried out at the Water Steps and Boat Repair Plant of the North Hungarian Water Management Directorate in Tiszalök.
The 33.5 m long, 5 m wide nostalgic boat Jókai can accommodate 85 passengers and was acquired by Balaton Shipping Ltd. at the end of 2023. At the beginning of 2024, the ship underwent a complete painting, so that it became a member of the unified fleet of nostalgia ships.
